Sr. Data Scientist Bannockburn, IL or Cambridge, MA OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE We are seeking a skilled, proactive and motivated Sr. Data Scientist with hands-on experience in data wrangling, transformations, building data-driven insights and statistical models. As part of the Plasma Derived Therapies Data, Digital & Technology (PDT DD&T) team, you will leverage advanced analytics to deliver data-driven solutions and insights that drive impactful business outcomes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Pricing, Marketing, and Forecasting, you will analyze data sets, build predictive models, deploy and operationalize solutions to enhance organizational performance. You will work closely with fellow data scientists and other members of the Enterprise Data Science Community of Practice to advance best practices and knowledge sharing. You will report directly to the Data Science Lead, who will provide strategic direction. How you will contribute: Support the Data Science Lead and team members in solving problems, analyzing data and developing advanced analytics solutions. Translate business processes and requirements into solutions. Understand analytics drivers and data to be modeled and apply appropriate quantitative techniques to solve problems. Design, develop, deploy and operationalize advanced statistics, data science and AI/ML solutions supporting business operations. Evaluate data, analytics models and experiments to validate hypotheses, ensuring continued business value as requirements evolve. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven insights into business strategies and operations. Ensure smooth, successful and timely delivery of statistical/data science solutions and AI/ML products. ACCOUNTABILITIES Design, develop, and operationalize decision support solutions using advanced statistical methods, data science/ML, and other quantitative techniques to solve complex business problems. Provide thought leadership in experimental design (including A/B Testing) and assist business in executing analytics solutions and performance metrics. Understand data and sources of data. Coordinate with IT to collect, ingest, and deliver data with proper data models for analytical needs. Interacts with business users to define pain points, problem statements, scope, and analytics business cases. Develop solutions with recommended data models and data science techniques. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven insights into business operations and decision processes. Support solutions by providing analytical insights that shape design and improve customer experience. Develop analytics solutions following the lifecycle of statistical and AI/ML processes to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions. Present data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders. Assist in defining requirements and facilitate workshops and prototyping sessions. DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise Solid understanding of current and emerging AI/Advanced Analytics technologies. Expertise in Data, Data Modeling, Statistical Methods, Quantitative Techniques, and AI/ML preferred. Familiarity with analytics processes and service models. Leadership Strong business acumen with knowledge of health care and retail operations. Provide guidance to junior team members and novice business users. Strong collaboration skills and experience in people management and skills development. Decision-making and Autonomy Proven track record of making decisions to resolve issues and obstacles. Self-motivated and self-directed in driving results and deliverables. Interaction Demonstrated success in global business and IT relationships, vendor management, and governance. Innovation Leverage AI/ML and statistical models to drive business results. Harvest enterprise analytics platforms and tooling to support BI solutions. Complexity Supporting PDT Functions in Americas and Europe. High multicultural sensitivity and remote collaboration capabilities. Education, Behavioral Competencies and Skills Masters degree preferred with ~5+ years experience or Bachelors degree with ~7 years in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or other quantitative fields. 5+ years of experience in statistics, quantitative methods, and AI/ML/Data science in Life Sciences, Pharma, Biotech, tech companies or relevant regulated industries. Solid understanding of applied statistics and math modeling, and ML techniques (e.g., clustering, classification, regression, dimensionality reduction, ensemble methods, NLP). Experience in Python, PySpark, or R for data curation, transformation, analysis, modeling, and visualization. Experience working in a matrix organization with data engineering, enterprise architecture, platform architecture, and other application teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate with multifunctional teams.
