Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Pain Management plays a vital role in supporting physicians and advanced providers in delivering compassionate, efficient, and high-quality care to patients managing chronic or acute pain. This role includes a blend of clinical duties, administrative responsibilities, and patient education. The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy, attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties Handle all voicemails, complete daily tasks, and respond to intramail messages throughout the day and communicate professionally Schedule patient appointments and procedures Send internal tasks to appropriate departments Document all phone communications using chart notes Maintain updated and complete medical records (medications, allergies, social history, past medical/surgical history) Order procedures, imaging, and physical therapy as directed and fax to appropriate facility Request cardiac clearance for procedures Fax referrals to outside specialists and coordinate follow-up Document faxed communications and record requests in the sticky note section of the EMR Request and follow up on medical records from previous or current providers Ensure MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) requirements are complete for each patient Organize and restock clinical and office supplies Clinical Duties

Greet, room, and prepare patients for appointments Take and record accurate vital signs and patient histories Assist with pain management procedures (i.e., Trigger point injections, Joint/spinal injections, Toradol injections, Botox Injections) Read and record UDS (Urine Drug Screens) results and send out for further testing when applicable Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and care guidelines Assist in maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment Ensure HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality Assist in patient mobility and positioning as needed Update charts and documentation with accuracy and in real time Professional Competencies

Consistently reliable in attendance, follow-through, and fulfilling responsibilities without reminders Maintains confidentiality, follows ethical guidelines, and demonstrates honesty and transparency in all interactions Proactively identifies tasks, solves problems, and seeks ways to improve workflows and patient care Offers new ideas to enhance patient experience, clinic efficiency, or process improvement Resolves conflicts and advocates for patients or coworkers professionally and constructively Communicates effectively to influence patient compliance with care plans and encourages team collaboration Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited medical assistant program Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential required At least 1 year of clinical experience (pain management preferred) Proficient in EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Modernizing Medicine) Current CPR/BLS certification Physical Demands

Regular standing and walking; occasional sitting Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 25 lbs. Manual dexterity for clinical instruments and documentation Support in positioning and mobilizing patients Work Environment

Outpatient pain management clinic Routine exposure to clinical equipment and bodily fluids Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
