The Environmental Health and Safety Officer plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant workplace. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The officer will work closely with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities
Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Conduct regular inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Perform root cause analysis for incidents and accidents to prevent future occurrences. Provide training to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, first aid, CPR, and occupational health topics. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance documentation. Collaborate with management to develop training programs that enhance employee awareness of health and safety issues. Assist in the fabrication of safety equipment or modifications as needed to improve workplace safety. Serve as the primary point of contact for workers' compensation claims and ensure compliance with relevant laws. Qualifications / Skills
Strong knowledge of workers' compensation law and regulations. Proficient in CPR certification and first aid techniques. Familiarity with OSHA standards and EPA regulations. Ability to conduct effective root cause analysis for workplace incidents. Experience in training development related to health and safety practices. Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying safety information to employees at all levels. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining records and documentation. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while promoting a culture of safety.
