Under the direction of the Inventory Control Manager, leads/oversees a dock staff of 10-17 union employees. Work with the management staff to meet CDC standards for all stock related activities. Establish, implement and report on the plan for increasing capacity and optimizing the use of the warehouses. * Experience in warehouse environment.* Experience supervising or managing a team is strongly desired.* Forklift experience and certification. Drexel Swing Mast preferred to work down narrow aisles, side load and working heights of 25ft or higher.* Able to operate most types of equipment (e.g. pallet jacks, and stock pickers).**Technical Knowledge or Skills:** * Strong Microsoft Excel skills.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.**Preferred Competencies** * Demonstrated organizational and multitasking abilities.* Ability to establish priorities and exercise sound judgment.* Meet deadlines.* Interact with colleagues in a collaborative and professional manner.* Requires regular sitting, standing, and keyboard use.* Involves occasional lifting, packing, and moving boxes of books and cartons.* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.* Significant time will be spent on foot monitoring bulk warehouse operations.* Involves operating equipment capable of reaching heights up to 35 feet.* This is a hands-on role that requires close collaboration with CDC management and, at times, client presses.* The supervisor is expected to actively support staff by assisting with all departmental responsibilities as needed.When applying, the document(s) **MUST** be uploaded via the **My Experience** page, in the section titled **Application Documents** of the application.The University of Chicago is an urban research university that has driven new ways of thinking since 1890.
