OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint replacement. Other services include an urgent care, clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy. General Statement of Duties:

The Sterile Processing Team Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily activities and personnel involved in the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, reprocessing, and sterilization of instrumentation for the Operating Room. The Team Lead will assist with monitoring quality and processes within the department and fills in for staff positions as needed. Essential Duties:

Ensures the daily function of the department runs smoothly and is available and visible to the staff as needed. Monitors workflow and adjusts assignments to assure optimum departmental performance. Assists with daily staff assignments and maintaining staff schedule. Communicates surgery case dates and times to vendors regarding scheduled cases. Communicates with Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department regarding same day add-ons or changes in Operating Room schedule. Communicates with Purchasing for orders and repair needs. Ensure when instruments come in that they get placed in the sets and communicate updates to staff. Prepares instrument sets for going out for repair as needed. Maintains tagging system in the Sterile Processing Department to ensure correct instruments tagged and sterile for cases when not utilizing the instrument tracking system. Maintains instrument count sheets for backup times and within in the instrument tracking system. Functions as a super-user for the instrument tracking system helping staff as needed. Fills in staff positions as needed, including: assembles all instrument procedure trays, packs, and kits according to the prescribed manner using content lists as a guide; wraps packages and handles all items following procedures; marks items with identifying data and distributes or stores in designated area; performs tray assemblage, proper packing and preparation of all applicable supplies from sterilization; monitors sterility dates on supplies. Recommends, executes, and participates in performance improvement and customer service initiatives. Retrieves data and prepares reports for Quality Assurance and Risk Management as needed. Assists with orientation of new employees and overall department operation. Assists in the coordination of department education with Surgical Services educator and vendors. Ensures that staff maintains work areas and equipment in a clean and organized condition required by the standards for handling sterilized and clean materials. Assists with general cleaning of department service areas, racks, shelves, storage cabinets, etc. Assists with the completion of performance reviews. Provides input into evaluations with reference to improvements. Initiates the appropriate steps to investigate and informs management in times of serious events. Communicates with vendors daily to ensure that all required instrumentation that is needed for next day surgery is here and available. Calls vendors when instrumentation for next day surgeries cannot be located. Communicates with scheduling to ensure that the vendors have been notified. Requirements:

Associate's Degree or equivalent required Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required Certified Instrument Specialist certification required Certified Surgical Technologist certification preferred 4-6 years of related experience required OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity Employer
