Bus Driver
The Bus Driver position will start as an hourly position and when the incumbent has met all the license and training requirements could be offered a contract position with benefits should a contract position be available. Our bus drivers are essential in making sure students get to school safely and are ready to learn. To recognize their important role, for the 2025-26 school year, the district is offering a special cash bonus to all district bus drivers. New drivers can earn up to a $1,000 bonus after obtaining their CDL, completing training, and driving for 60 consecutive days with excellent attendance and positive performance record. The Bus Driver transports students over scheduled routes and to/from special excursions; ensures the vehicle of operation is in safe operating condition; and ensures the safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from buses. Promotional opportunity to a contract, benefits-eligible position upon successful completion of initial training. Minimum Required Qualifications
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are: High school diploma or equivalent Valid Utah Driver's License and evidence of insurability Must be 21 years of age or older Have or obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) within 60 days of hire. The district will provide all essential training needed to obtain a CDL Able to roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds Ability to pass the Physical Assessment Standards for Utah School Bus Drivers Hold or obtain CPR & First Aid Certificate within six months of hire Speak, read, write, analyze, and follow written and verbal communication in English; listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing Adaptability and understanding of cultural differences while coping with stressful situations related to students and maintaining confidentiality Preferred Qualifications

1. Drive school bus, and other vehicles, to transport passengers over scheduled routes accessed via an electronic device, to and from school, field trips, and other occasions, in a safe and timely manner 2. Assist students and other passengers to provide safe loading and unloading from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport 3. Advise students and other passengers of appropriate behavior to reinforce regulations and maintain passenger safety 4. Supervise students and other passengers during transit to maintain safety and follow district policy 5. Support other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment. Assist in administering first aid if certified 6. Assess incidents, complaints, accidents, and potential emergency situations to resolve and recommend a resolution to the situation 7. Prepare documents and reports to document activities providing written support and conveying information. Detail bus problems in a clear and concise manner to maintain safe driving and operating conditions 8. Report observations and incidents involving students to communicate information to appropriate personnel 9. Clean assigned vehicles to ensure the safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle 10. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines 11. Maintain fluids in assigned vehicle to maintain vehicles in safe operating condition 12. Conduct emergency evacuation drills as mandated by state standards to ensure efficiency of procedures and compliance with mandated requirements 13. Respond to inquiries to provide and convey information 14. Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars, as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions 15. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required 16. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position 17. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively 18. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit Employee supervisory responsibilities: None Work environment & physical demands: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, might need to drag up to 125 pounds, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. The job is performed in varying atmospheric conditions.
