Job Summary
Responsible for evaluating and determining the cost structure for manufacturing new medical productsranging from complex finished device assemblies to precision components. This role plays a key part in enabling competitive, profitable quoting by defining manufacturing sequences, estimating run times, and identifying optimal raw materials and external services. The successful candidate will contribute to a world-class customer experience by delivering Design for Manufacturability (DFM) support and ensuring that technical requirements are well aligned with cost-effective production solutions. This position serves as a technical bridge between the customer, sales, engineering, and production, supporting Tegra Medical from prototype to full-scale production. Role and Responsibilities Receive and review Requests for Quotes (RFQs), the customer's drawings and design to determine product manufacturability. Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) services to customers; conference and/or meet with customers on justified quotes to improve cost, quality and production efficiency. Create CAD solid models and/or drawings for internal use or DFM inputs as needed. Identify optimal Bill of Materials (BOM) including raw materials, components, and outsourced services to support product cost, specifications, and manufacturability. Source external quotes from suppliers. Collaborate with SME's, engineering, production, supply chain, sales, and quality teams to gather inputs for accurate quotations. Generate costing operation routing with setup and cycle times; consult with Scheduling on lead time if necessary. As an output of the quoting effort, provide competitive manufacturing cost and lead time, as well as notes to communicate technical clarifications, assumptions, or exceptions. Send costing estimates to Sales for review, quote generation and submittal to customer in a timely manner. Field technical questions from customers, production personnel, Customer Care and Sales and help as needed. Play a key role in transitioning projects from quoting to production, ensuring alignment with cost targets and operational readiness. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, cost estimating, or process engineeringpreferably in the medical device or precision manufacturing sector. A strong sense of urgency and a demonstrated passion for our customers along with a strong service-oriented attitude is a must. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes native to Tegra Medical's core business. Working knowledge of raw materials (e.g., stainless steel, plastics, titanium) and secondary processes (e.g., anodizing, coating, heat treating). Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and product specifications. Excellent analytical and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset. Experience with ERP and quoting systems. Professionalism in your communications, poise, tact and diplomacy as well as the ability to work in a flexible and rapidly changing environment is a must. Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required. Experience with CAD and SolidWorks is a plus. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or related technical field, and excellent mechanical/manufacturing aptitude.
