PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) [Local candidates preferred] role at Jobs via Dice. The PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and overall management of PostgreSQL databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability. Responsibilities

Database Installation & Configuration: Install, upgrade, and configure PostgreSQL database instances according to organizational requirements and best practices. Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure efficient operation. Data Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing, to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant standards. Backup & Recovery: Design, implement, and test backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss and ensure availability. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Continuously monitor database health using monitoring tools, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents in a timely manner. Schema Design & Management: Assist in designing and maintaining database schemas, tables, indexes, and other database objects to support application needs. Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline routine database tasks and deployments. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards. Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and project teams to support application's database needs and implement new features or updates. Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure adherence to industry best practices, organizational policies, and compliance standards applicable to data management. Requirements

7+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA or in a similar database management role. Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, features, and extensions. Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python). Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL. Knowledge of security principles related to data protection. Understanding of cloud environments and tools like AWS RDS, Azure Database, or Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Preferred, but not required
