Not Specified # of openings: 1 Roles and Responsibilities This role requires significant experience in network studies for utilities and ISOs with the ability to lead others in this work as well. This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies on utility transmission & distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems. Work includes feasibility studies, system impact studies, reactive compensation studies, critical clearing time, stability (transient & dynamic), long/short range planning studies, short circuit, load flow, interconnection model development, power factor correction, and other related studies. The level of this engineer requires an individual who has experience participating in the proposal writing process as well as enjoys customer contact to help in developing new opportunities for POWER. This person must be able to self-manage their time and have strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills including the capability to explain complex technical issues at a variety of levels to decision-makers and project teams. Required Education/Experience + Requires a BSEE + Five (5) years of experience in transmission planning system studies + Excellent written and verbal English communication skills including writing proposals, reports, and additional technical communication as needed + Minimum three (3) years of experience with PSS/E + Experience with leading projects and mentoring others + Familiarity with ERCOT, its interconnection processes, and its system impact study requirements + Willing to travel (up to 10% at times) + Ability to work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment Desired Education/Experience + MSEE or PhD + Five (5) years experience with PSS/E + Seven to ten (7-10) years of experience in transmission planning studies + Familiarity with additional RTOs regarding interconnection process and system impact studies + PE registration (or equivalent) + Additional desirable software: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World and others as applicable + Coding experience and automation development POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
