Terms of Employment:
10 Months/Year Deans of students may be required to work beyond the regular school year. Up to twelve (12) additional days will be at the discretion of the building principal. Any days above twelve (12) must be approved by the Superintendent. Under no circumstances will the total days worked beyond the regular school year exceed seventeen (17). The rate of pay for these additional days shall be the employee's per diem rate of pay.

Job Goal:
To be an educational liaison and support instructional programming to meet the needs of all students, as well as, assist in the creation of a safe and orderly school environment conducive to learning, while building positive home-school relations.
Job Qualifications:
Possess an educator licensure and/or certification in Delaware. Must have 3 years of successful experience in a classroom setting with observations that demonstrate mastery of improving student achievement. Demonstrate leadership ability in the implementation of effective teaching strategies. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Essential Functions:
Support classroom staff by providing instructional coaching. Assist in the use of various types of programs such as online software, curriculum resources, etc. Assist in analyzing student work with individual and/or groups of teachers by participating in collaborative conversations and professional learning community meetings where the next steps for adjusting instruction are discussed. Conduct data analysis with building leadership and assist in the preparation and delivery of professional development related to data analysis and assessment. Collect and analyze data on the effectiveness of professional development sessions Provide leadership in the development, direction, and innovation of educational programs designed to meet the needs of student groups, inclusive of English Language Learners and Special Education. Provide opportunities for teachers to share and demonstrate successful practices. Supervise and monitor students, conducts and handles routine disciplinary matters, keeping records of disciplinary referrals and administrative actions. Serve as resource and support to staff, parents, and students on all matters related to school climate. Help to establish and implement safety and security procedures in the building, including fire and crisis drills. Assist Building Administration in the organization of instructional and behavioral programs. Help in supervising student activities including but not limited to transportation, lunchroom, and all other student-related activities which include before and after school. Assist in empowering teachers to assume responsibility for classroom management, research-based instructional practices, and student discipline. Supervise the reporting, monitoring, and follow-up of student attendance matters. Work to develop positive public relations and customer service relationships including consistent and open communications between the district, school, students, parents, and the overall community. Must be available for summer work; may be required to work a minimum of (12) additional days in the summer which will be at the discretion of the Building Principal. Assume other duties assigned by the administration to facilitate a safe, orderly, positive learning environment for staff and students.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to the finger(s), handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, use fingers to type and/or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 40 pounds. If lifting in excess of this weight is necessary, the assistance of a second person is required. The physical demands of this position will also include the ability of the individual to perform all of the essential functions and related responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Work Environment:
This position normally performs the majority of work in a school building or work office environment.
