Job Requisition: Lead Commercial Landscape Construction Estimator

Position Overview
The Lead Commercial Landscape Construction Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for commercial landscape construction projects. This position requires advanced technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, with the ability to analyze plans, specifications, and site conditions to prepare proposals that align with company objectives. The role also includes oversight of estimating processes, mentoring of junior staff, and close coordination with project management and operations teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Evaluation & Takeoffs
Review plans, drawings, and specifications to determine scope of work and resources required.
Perform material, labor, and equipment quantity takeoffs for planting, hardscape, irrigation, grading, and site amenities.
Identify constructability concerns, potential risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
Estimating & Pricing
Develop detailed cost estimates, unit pricing, and bid proposals for a range of project sizes.
Source and verify pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Apply production rates, labor efficiencies, and equipment utilization to ensure accurate budgets.
Bid Preparation & Submission
Prepare bid documents, scope narratives, alternates, and clarifications.
Coordinate with project managers and leadership to finalize proposals.
Submit complete bid packages within established deadlines.
Client & Contractor Relations
Serve as primary contact for general contractors, architects, and developers during bidding.
Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walk-throughs.
Maintain working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
Collaboration & Project Handoff
Provide project managers with budget breakdowns, buyouts, and material order support following contract award.
Ensure accurate transfer of estimating information to operations.
Participate in post-bid reviews to support process improvements.
Leadership & Process Oversight

Mentor junior estimators and provide technical guidance.
Recommend improvements to estimating tools, procedures, and workflows.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in commercial landscape construction estimating or related field.
Strong knowledge of landscape construction methods, irrigation, grading, and sitework.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Aspire, ArborGold, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Horticulture, or related field .

Compensation
Salary Range:
$65,000 – $85,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
