Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general facility maintenance and repair work across both Best Friends Fur-Ever (BFFE) resort locationsCockeysville and Joppa. This role ensures that the buildings, grounds, and critical systems remain safe, clean, and functional to support daily operations, exceptional animal care, and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with a broad skill set in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general upkeep. This role requires strong time management, flexibility, and a proactive mindset to address routine maintenance needs and respond to unexpected issues promptly. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Resort Administrators and site teams to schedule preventative maintenance, prioritize repairs, and uphold brand and safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Facilities Maintenance & Repair: Perform general maintenance duties including plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and drywall Inspect and maintain HVAC systems, lighting, doors, windows, gates, and Troubleshoot and resolve building system issues promptly to minimize operational Support seasonal maintenance tasks such as snow removal, gutter cleaning, power washing, and painting Preventative Maintenance & Compliance: Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify safety and operational Maintain maintenance logs and documentation for regulatory and audit Ensure all facility systems comply with OSHA, local safety regulations, and company Proactively schedule and complete preventative maintenance Operational & Cross-Team Support: Respond to urgent maintenance requests from both resorts Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and external service providers as needed Assist in setup, breakdown, and support for on-site events Collaborate with site leadership to ensure maintenance priorities align with business needs. Essential Functions/Requirements: Proven experience in facility maintenance, building systems, and repair work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.). Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other equipment safely Strong attention to detail, organization, and time Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when interacting with team members or outside vendors. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage tasks across multiple sites. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical documents. Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends in case of emergency. Typical schedule is Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Required to travel regularly between Cockeysville and Joppa Must be available for on-call support during facility emergencies. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, work on roofs, and handle physical tasks for extended periods Must be able to work in a variety of conditions including indoor, outdoor, hot, cold, or wet Must be comfortable working around cleaning chemicals and in close proximity to dogs. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in facility or building Experience in a kennel, veterinary, or pet care environment is a bonus Valid driver's license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and facility compliance guidelines.
