The new Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning, direction, and overall accountability for Mercy Hospital of Buffalos Emergency Department with a focus on driving quality patient-focused care that meets the needs of the community. The ED Nurse Manager will have responsibility over the 37-bed Emergency Department and team of 122+ FTEs. This leader will focus on ongoing departmental initiatives including throughput, KPIs, and transitions. This leader will focus on workforce and staffing initiatives such as mentoring new hires and junior-level staff, recruitment, and retention rates. They will also collaborate closely with the physician team driving stable relationships across the department. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on dynamic leader who brings Emergency Department expertise and a strong understanding of regulations and financials. Seeking a seasoned, adaptable, approachable, and detail-oriented leader who can effectively collaborate with all levels of leadership. The ideal leader will balance the emotional needs of the team with accountability and a focus on process improvement. Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and accountability for Mercy Hospital of Buffalos Emergency Department. Lead a 37-bed ED with a team of 122+ FTEs and drive initiatives related to throughput, KPIs, and transitions. Oversee workforce and staffing initiatives including mentoring, recruitment, and retention; partner with the physician team to maintain strong relationships across the department. Apply hands-on leadership with ED expertise, regulatory knowledge, and financial acumen to guide department operations. Qualifications
BSN is required; MSN is preferred. Active NYS RN license and/or ability to obtain is required. Active ACLS, PALS, and/or NIHSS certification is required. A minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience is required. Union experience is strongly preferred. Compensation Details
The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The Organization
