Maintenance Technician

Job Summary The Maintenance Technician ensures the upkeep, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of equipment, machinery, and building systems. This role minimizes downtime by maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, supporting production efficiency while ensuring safety and quality compliance. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repairs

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facility equipment and machinery. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. Assist in the installation, calibration, and setup of new equipment. Provide emergency repair support to avoid production interruption.

Facility & Utility Maintenance

Inspect and maintain HVAC, compressed air, vacuum, and electrical systems. Perform minor repairs on lighting, plumbing, and building infrastructure.

Safety & Compliance

Follow OSHA, GMP, and company safety protocols. Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance. Keep work areas clean and organized to prevent contamination or product defects.

Inventory & Documentation

Maintain records of equipment maintenance, downtime logs, and part replacements. Assist in ordering spare parts and tracking maintenance supplies. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry quality control standards and customer specifications.

Support & Collaboration

Work closely with production teams to coordinate equipment maintenance. Assist senior maintenance staff in large-scale repairs and projects. Participate in training and skill development programs.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in the flexible packaging, printing, or plastics industry. Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Ability to read and follow technical manuals, schematics, and machine blueprints. Experience with troubleshooting and repairing production equipment used in flexible packaging (laminators, slitters, pouching machines, printing presses, etc.). Basic math and troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications Associates degree or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, mechatronics, or a related field. Prior experience in flexible packaging, printing, plastics, or film converting environments. Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs for high-speed manufacturing equipment. Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) troubleshooting. Understanding of GMP and HACCP requirements in food-safe packaging production. Physical Requirements

(if required) Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods in a fast-paced industrial setting. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work with tools and heavy equipment. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
