Rothrock Construction is hiring a Construction Estimator! Construction estimating is the process of calculating all of the required costs for a construction project. Estimating project costs requires detailed knowledge of construction materials, specifications, techniques, codes, and pricing trends.

Utilize Bluebeam software to prepare quantity takeoffs
Prepare estimates for new project bidding
Prepare proposals for new project bidding and submit to customers
Follow up with customers after bid submittal
Understand construction schedules.
Prepare change orders for ongoing projects
Develop and maintain client relationships through phone calls and periodic job site visits
Attend pre-construction meetings
Attend networking and business development events
Proficiently utilize the Microsoft Office suite, with strong Excel knowledge.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe to submit weekly reports to clients.
Be well-organized and detail-oriented
Possess good written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
highly knowledgeable in local, state and federal building and construction codes; local guidelines and permitting.
obtaining quotes from multiple suppliers and contractors to find the most suitable one
collaborating with project managers, contractors, engineers, and suppliers to prepare accurate estimates
outlining the required work to estimate labor costs
conducting risk assessments and accounting for cost deviations
drafting proposals that outline the project's required materials, costs, and timeline
finding ways to lower project costs to adhere to a set budget
schedule and participate in pre-bid meetings.
ability to take thorough notes and measurements for accurate bidding.
qualifying bids from subcontractors.
review and approve payments to subcontractors through the in-office accounting department.
Scope & Trade Knowledge
Review and understand bid documents and specifications
Develop RFIs and clarifications for assigned scopes
Analyze and level subcontractor bids
Identify and select the right subcontractors for each project
Minimize exclusions and ensure full scope coverage
Qualifications:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents.
Minimum 3 years of experience as an estimator, preferably with previous experience in the field or as a project manager.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and listening abilities.
Detail-oriented and a high level of accuracy.
Proficient in Bluebeam, Excel, Microsoft, Adobe, and Word.
Salary:
Salary is negotiable on experience.
