Civil Solutions (CS) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented

Construction Estimator

to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. Estimators play a vital role in all

pre-construction activities

across a wide range of projects including public, residential, commercial, and industrial developments, as well as roads, dams, structural walls, and site development.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing preliminary budgets, performing detailed take-offs and estimates, defining bid package scopes, managing prequalification and bidding processes, preparing construction schedules, and presenting accurate, well-supported cost estimates. You will also collaborate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and company leadership to help secure and deliver successful projects.

Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Management

Prepare accurate estimates, take-offs, and schedules for construction projects.

Review drawings, specifications, and other documents to build reliable cost estimates.

Develop proposals and contracts that clearly outline project scope, fees, and client expectations.

Solicit, review, and critically evaluate subcontractor proposals and estimates.

Create construction schedules for estimating purposes.

Participate in value engineering by reviewing preliminary designs and preparing comparative cost studies.

Identify potential design, scheduling, material, or cost issues and communicate solutions to Project Managers and leadership.

Project Management & Coordination

Collaborate across departments to prepare proposals, statements of qualifications (SOQs), bid packages, and estimates.

Apply strong conceptual estimating skills to projects with limited information (Design/Build).

Attend site meetings to define project scope with clients and owners.

Coordinate staffing requirements and logistics planning with Project Managers and VPs.

Manage permitting processes, including filing applications and coordinating with agencies.

Interpret and explain contracts, scopes, and technical details to project teams.

Prepare and submit contracts and subcontracts for approval.

Business Development & Client Relations

Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and presentations.

Represent CS at client meetings, both in-office and on-site, during the preconstruction phase.

Foster vendor and subcontractor relationships.

Proactively pursue new leads and opportunities for business growth.

Team Management & Leadership

Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers, Site Forepersons, and other team members.

Promote and enforce company safety policies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience at VP’s discretion).

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Ability to travel locally within the Greater Cincinnati and Tri-State area.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Strong communication skills for working with clients, subcontractors, and team members.

OSHA 30 certification .

CAD experience .
