Carlsbad Educational Foundation, Carlsbad, California, United States, 92002

Save Job

Science Olympiad is a school-based team competition for students, guided by volunteer mentors, where they prepare for events by building models, studying material, performing labs, and analyzing data. Being a Science Olympiad Program Mentor is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Carlsbad Unified School District students in grades 6-12. Our volunteers impart knowledge and share their passion with students who are eager to learn. As a Mentor, you make it possible for students to observe, experience and explore STEM and STEM careers. This year there are four Olympiad Event categories to choose from; Core Knowledge, Build, Lab, and Hybrid events. This opportunity is seasonal and starts October 2025 and ends in March 2026. Practices are held once a week, in the evenings for 1-1.5 hours on our community partner's campus in Carlsbad. There are three mentor positions to choose from: Event Coach

- Source and prepare teaching material, deliver weekly lessons or labs, and guide students through building and testing models or devices. Event Assistant Coach

- Share responsibilities with another event coach. Build and Lab Event Aide

- Help coaches and students conduct weekly labs or build.
