This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business. Responsibilities
As a GSPAS (Global Softpart and Programming Authoring System) OTA and Service Data Release Engineer, author to-be packages for assigned VeSCoM and controllers that will be deployed via Over-the-Air (OTA) or Techline Connect (TLC). Release and promote part usages for all externally released VeSCoMs within the GSPAS system to generate to-be packages used by OTA and/or dealers. Research and triage systems or releases related issues to generate healthy to-be packages by comprehending ECR (Engineering Change Requests) release intents and following the correct release process. Collaborate with GSPAS IT teams to continuously develop new features as well as enhance existing features to meet the increased complexity of the vehicles. Lead the rest of the GSPAS data engineers to improve GSPAS authoring quality to improve the first-time success rate for both OTA and service programming events. Create and review metric data to improve authoring qualities and efficiencies. Review and resolve service programming supports for assigned controllers and vehicles by using corporate databases to obtain information vital to support vehicle updates in the fields. Databases include MERS, ECM, GPDS, and SPR. Gather information from various resources to support vehicle STC, SORP, and post-STC suppliers; sources include MLCRD, PLCRD, diagnostic specifications, and ASTS. Use captured information and query tools (SQL) to update the Service Programming System (SPS) database with control module data, software, and calibrations based on engineering release direction. Identify and author appropriate pre- and post-programming instructions to assist technicians in completing successful programming events. Validate vehicle communication and module programming for new vehicle launches. Work with Data File Release Engineers, Serviceability of Design Engineers, Brand Quality, Software VSEs, and other teams to resolve vehicle programming-related issues. Assist the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) in resolving dealership technician reprogramming issues. Prioritize work to meet data delivery schedules. Support special projects related to embedded software deployment projects. Qualifications
Required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent experience within the automotive industry or engineering. 5 years of experience in an OTA update, service programming, or diagnostic position. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to function autonomously with limited direction. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively multi-functionally and cross-culturally. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and communication skills (oral and written). High-level oral and written communication skills. Preferred Skills
3+ years of experience in OTA, service programming, or automotive electrical systems. Experience in project management that included formal requirement creation, UAT test case creation, and testing to provide post-deployment support. Understanding and capability to work with databases and query tools such as SQL and Oracle. Knowledge of GM business processes, systems, and tools including ECM, SPR, PRTS, VSMSOTA, GSAPS, VCAM, and DPS. Solid understanding of vehicle systems with prior automotive service or engineering experience and knowledge of vehicle data communication protocols used in service programming and diagnostics. Compensation and Benefits
This role is not eligible for relocation benefits. Salary range: $111,000 to $202,000. The actual base salary offered will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
