CIE USA-Century Plastics , a division of the global enterprise CIE Automotive, is seeking a talented
Product Engineer
to join our team.
Reports to:
Director of Engineering
Primary Purpose:
The Product Engineer is responsible for the development of interior and exterior trim components from the initial concept through launch. This position also works with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, to ensure a feasible design for manufacturing which meets all customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
Provide technical support in meetings with customers
Provide Customer & Program Management with all development required information.
Responsible for working with CIE manufacturing and tooling, as needed.
Directs and provides lineups to designers with daily requirements
Track and ensure design completion on time to meet milestones
Responsible for working directly with the customer engineering team
Verify design feasibility for manufacturing
Verify designs meet customer requirements and standards
Responsible for working with dimensional engineers to develop part tolerances and GD&T requirements
Verify and ensure accuracy of release of drawings and models
Ensure design meets all vehicle environment requirement (package)
Create an Engineering Bill of Materials and maintain for all products for the life of the program
Create a part exploded views and maintain for all products with multiple parts for the life of program
Maintain engineering open issues list related to product design only
Responsible for initiating the change request process and notifying PM Engineering is responsible for the creation and development of DFMEAs
Support Quality team to create process flow, PFMEA, Control Plan as needed
Support OEM assembly builds as required
Resolve engineering issues, create was/is document, track engineering changes, and verify changes were implemented correctly
Support and evaluate tool tryouts for part accuracy
Responsible for the concept design and execution of all products to be manufactured and/or assembled within CIE
Assist build team and quality department with part manufacturing for "Prototype Phases/Tools /Builds in the development of work instructions for initial builds and reworks by supporting in customer shipment meetings"
Ensure tooling engineers have the correct product information and data.
Evaluate part dimensions, create correction action plan, and continual maintenance of the plan until dimensions are bought off
Responsible for working with dimensional engineers to understand problem areas
Responsible for the development of DVP&R test plan requirements per part
Responsible for the procurement of parts and delivery to test source
Responsible for fit and functional evaluations, creation of plan for corrections and maintenance.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Related Automotive Technology (BSME , but not required)
5+ years of experience in automotive with plastics background
Capable of utilizing CAD Software to review designs (sections, measuring, draft analysis, etc.). Catia experience is specifically requested
Strong organizational skills including open issues tracking, part tracking, etc.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong background in vehicle system level design and packaging
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
Ability to manage and track multiple programs
In-depth knowledge of plastics and tooling feasibility design requirements
Strong background with vehicle system level design and packaging
General knowledge of general GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift 30 lbs. occasionally (part, boxes, etc.)
Must be able to stand for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment
Must be able to travel within manufacturing environments (internally and externally)
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally with passport (primarily within United States, but also including Mexico and Europe)
