Equipment Room Coordinator
As part of Muhlenberg College's Athletics team, the Equipment Room Coordinator oversees the purchase, storage, maintenance, and use of equipment, including managing inventory, tracking usage, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating repairs. Key responsibilities include maintaining equipment functionality, organizing the equipment room and locker rooms, fulfilling equipment needs for teams, and supporting the assistant director of athletics to prepare for team practices and game operations. Characteristic Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the general operation of the equipment room, which includes hiring and training staff to complete the preparation and laundering of practice and competition apparel for 23 varsity teams. Work with head coaches in completing requisitions for equipment purchasing, including research of equipment for quotes, purchase orders and invoicing. Also manage and oversee the delivery, receiving and inventorying of requests from vendors. Order equipment room supplies, work with vendors to receive quotes to conduct annual equipment maintenance and develop capital equipment replacement schedules for laundry equipment. Train staff to fit protective equipment to help enhance player safety. Use hand tools, screwdrivers, and power tools/drills for helmet repairs. Problem solve and make quick decisions. Be organized and manage time effectively; maintain precise and accurate records. Create equipment room hours that meet the needs of our student athletes for practices and competition. Supervise part-time staff members with equipment room responsibilities and supervise student workers including scheduling hours, assigning work, and approving student hours. Develop inventories and replacement schedules for equipment and supplies for each sport. Issue and monitor locker assignments, and work with the director of housekeeping to schedule weekly and annual cleaning. Maintain records of equipment issue and return and insure appropriate reconditioning or replacement. Organize and oversee the distribution and collection of equipment before and after each sport's season. Ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained, practice gear, field equipment and uniforms for teams and the department are properly cared for, and prepare accurate records for all teams and student-athletes for reporting of information for credits/losses for financial services billing, as necessary. Work collaboratively with the assistant director of athletics and plant operations to coordinate equipment set-up for various sports and ensure specific needs (game day and practices) are met daily. Including the preparation of locker rooms and meeting rooms for visiting teams and officials. Responsible for set-up of scoreboard and sound systems at various fields. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Athletics in ensuring scoreboards and sound systems are operating properly for all home contests. Schedule & Benefits:
The anticipated schedule for this position is 7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break (35 hours per week during the academic year) and 15 hours per week during the summer months (1,560 hours annualized).
