The Engineering Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing strategic and tactical plans that meet the divisional and corporate objectives for profitability, cost control, product quality, compliance, employee development and customer service. This role will lead all Injection Molding and assembly areas including sustaining engineering, process improvements and will be responsible for leading the engineering team for documentation, and validation of new customer products, and modification of existing products including defining requirements, timelines, and deliverables with a focus on process and efficiency improvements, customer builds, training production, preparation, and execution of process validation for new version of products. Job Responsibilities: Provide direction to a group of individuals whose charge is to develop projects, processes, and procedures to improve customer satisfaction, efficiency, profitability, and compliance. Leads new product teams to help build plans that will ensure a smooth transition from concept to production and full product launch Initiates process and product improvements initiatives Assumes leadership role in developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods Lead the tooling program and serve as an on-going liaison with customer; Keep file on all pertinent information by mold number; track status of tooling order, schedule samplings of molds; communicate customer knowledge to the QA department for individual parts; revise and re-sample tools as needed prior to releasing to production. Responsible for estimating through customers received drawings or CAD files to prepare part and tool cost estimates; Reviewing files and drawings for mold ability and suggesting changes to customers when appropriate; planning manufacturing of partsthrough estimates and preliminary route sheets and bills of material Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards Works with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Leads the monthly project financial review meetings. Responsible for annual cost/scrap reduction program; suggesting and implementing changes to manufacturing or tooling for cost reduction/improvements; reviewing all standards for accuracy; maintaining cost within approved budget for the function. Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is manufactured and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design Establishes work measurements programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization Recommends methods of improving worker efficiency and reducing wastes of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment and purchase of equipment Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action for non-conforming parts, dispositions, and assemblies. Works diligently with Manufacturing and Quality departments to develop mechanisms that will improve quality, provide realistic schedules, standardize processes and reduce costs Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure functional objectives are met Responsibilities outlined for all direct reports job descriptions noted above. Other projects and tasks as assigned. Job Requirements: Knowledge / Experience: Previous experience as a Project Engineer or Engineering Manager. Problem solving and solid decision making skills Ability to lead cross-functional/department teams Working knowledge of injection molding, material master maintenance, BOMs, routings and work centers Experience and understanding of tooling, machinery, processing and materials used in injection and blow molding and keep up to date on materials and machinery in the market place; Experience with selection and acquisition of new plant machinery upon approval of capital expenditure requisition. Experience with lean manufacturing techniques, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies highly preferred Experience with new product introduction and interactions daily with customers development teams Solid knowledge of GMP and ISO 13485 regulations Must be able to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Proficiency in Solidworks. Strong computer skills, including the MS Office suite Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, and must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral Must have demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and schedules. Education: BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline desired. 8-10+ years experience in engineering management required Medical, dental, and vision benefits-effective date of hire! Potential salary range for this role is $200k-$225k. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
