Composites Application Engineer Position Summary: The Composites Application Engineer is responsible for process development and product support for various applications in composite and additive manufacturing technologies. Areas of focus include Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Laying (ATL), large-scale thermoplastic and metal 3D printing, and automated inspection systems. The role includes researching and optimizing processes, supporting sales efforts, training users, qualifying machines, and assisting in software development related to composite manufacturing. Employment Type: Full time-salary Responsibilities
Review and analyze customer part manufacturing requirements Develop and optimize complete manufacturing processes Research and test alternative manufacturing techniques Provide training to internal teams and customers Support projects from proposal through installation and production Generate technical reports for both internal and external use Visit customer and partner sites to implement systems and resolve production issues under pressure or with short notice Maintain regular attendance at the designated facility Work overtime and off-shift hours as needed Qualifications
CAD experience, preferably with CATIA, SolidWorks, or ProE Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Professional demeanor and appearance Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field Skills
Experience with programming such as C/C++ and Python Understanding of NC programming and ability to interpret NC files Background in large-scale additive manufacturing and composites processes (e.g., 3D printing, Automated Fiber Printing) Familiarity with running and programming large machine tools or robotic platforms Location & Compensation
