Intake Referral Coordinator

under the supervision of the Intake Department Supervisor is the first point of contact between NBRC and prospective clients over age 3 seeking to access center services. The Intake Referral Coordinator gathers information, determines the appropriateness of referrals, and provides information about NBRC services and referrals to private and public service agencies as appropriate. Responsibilities

Receive referrals from parents, professionals, and the general public via phone, online, faxed referrals, and walk-ins for Lanterman services. Gather initial information and obtain records related to eligibility category; provide applicants with an overview of the Regional Center and categories of eligibility; identify expectations during the intake process. Provide resource support and referral information to applicants and families who may not qualify for intake; complete required reports, records, and forms; collaborate with clinical staff as needed. Assist in gathering statistics related to intake and assessment processes; coordinate with the manager in assigning appropriate referrals to assessment staff who follow up and complete the eligibility process. Assist with other tasks as needed by the Intake Department and/or the agency; function with a reasonable degree of independence as experience develops. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of related experience with demonstrated ability to assume increasingly responsible duties. Bilingual: English/Spanish required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge: Regional Center System and the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act; eligibility criteria; developmental disabilities; case management and assessment; office management practices and procedures; MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Skills: interviewing; interpreting information from diverse sources; effective verbal and written communication; time management; attention to detail; initiative; ability to work independently and as part of a team; public speaking and training. Ability: learn and follow policies and procedures related to eligibility and intake; discuss the intake process respectfully with families; manage incoming calls; work with community agencies; problem solve using good judgment; enter initial data accurately; maintain a professional demeanor. Special Requirements

Ability to provide personal transportation and minimum legal automobile liability insurance; bilingual English/Spanish required. Note: NBRC requires face-to-face, in-person interactions with clients, families, and co-workers. Candidates must live within commute distance to their preferred NBRC office and assigned clients. 100% remote work is not available; hybrid work arrangements may be available after demonstrating performance expectations following at least 3 months of in-office work.
