Overview

We are seeking aLabor and Delivery RN, also referred to as a Labor & Delivery Nurse (L&D RN) or Delivery Room RN. A Labor and Delivery RN provides comprehensive care to mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with deliveries. They also perform clinical tasks, ensure patient safety, educate families, and coordinate closely with the healthcare team to respond to both routine and emergency situations.

Bonus Options: up to $15,000

Shift’s Available: Nights($3.00 to $4.50 differential in pay)

Employment Type:Full Time

Hours:12-hour shifts – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location:Dallas Regional Medical Center - Mesquite, TX

Responsibilities

** To move forward in this position, you have to have some experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

Maternal Monitoring:They check blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and monitor for signs of complications like preeclampsia or infection

Labor Support:They assist with positioning the patient, guiding breathing techniques, and offering comfort measures like massage, cold packs, birthing balls, or hydrotherapy

IV Therapy:Starting and maintaining IVs for hydration, medication administration, or anesthesia

Patient Advocacy:Nurses act as advocates during labor, especially for patients who may have specific birth plans or cultural needs

Newborn Care:They dry, warm, and assess the baby immediately after birth (Apgar scoring), assist with cord clamping, and administer prophylactic medications

Utilize the chain of commandwhen necessary to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care to newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

Current and valid state RN License

BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current

ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current

NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current

Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current

AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred

AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred

STABLE preferred
