Overview

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Assistant Director at the University of Utah. The Assistant Director helps lead and manage the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), an endowed, peer-led program designed for adult learners ages 50+. This role is ideal for a dynamic, organized, and collaborative professional who is passionate about adult education and community building. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a non-degree-granting program offering non-credit academic courses, lectures, social events, and opportunities for community engagement. The Institute serves a community of over 1,700 members. The Assistant Director works as a key member of a five-person Osher team to oversee daily operations, curriculum, volunteers, instructors, and outreach to grow the program sustainably. Responsibilities

Curriculum & Program Management: Serve as Curriculum Coordinator, overseeing development, scheduling, and evaluation of all Osher courses and lectures; ensure courses and instructors are evaluated with success metrics; collaborate with Curriculum Committee to ensure a diverse and engaging catalog; research and implement new program topics aligned with Oshers mission, subject areas, and member interests. Volunteer Management: Provide and host volunteer recognition events; recruit, train, and mentor volunteers; identify volunteer leaders and teach Osher Behind the Scenes Classes; steward volunteer relationships. Instructor Management: Manage all instructor relationships, including recruitment, onboarding, and support; cultivate new instructor partnerships; respond to daily instructor communications; oversee the Letter of Agreement (LOA) process for instructors. Publications & Communications: Lead creation and management of the Osher course brochure for four terms per year; coordinate with marketing and design teams to ensure timely publication of materials. Academic Support: Manage collection and review of instructors course syllabi; ensure materials are submitted promptly and accessible to members and staff. Member Engagement & Customer Service: Provide high-level customer service to members, volunteers, and instructors; respond to requests and feedback; support registration processes and course evaluations; collaborate with the Director on strategic planning, reporting, and community outreach. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a related area or equivalency; four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge in the relevant area to analyze, plan, and make recommendations; demonstrated leadership in planning and directing employees and processes; supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Demonstrated potential to perform essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in a related area; experience in education, administration, or program management. Bachelors degree in education, business management, or related field; three years of increased responsibility and demonstrated interest in program management and development, curriculum creation, customer relations, and community building. Experience working with adult learners, sensitivity to older adults, familiarity with adult education trends and issues. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; proven success in managing volunteers and instructors; excellent organizational abilities and adaptability. Proficiency with office software and the ability to quickly learn new tools. Special Instructions
