Position Purpose:

The Non-Emergent Transportation Driver (Van Driver) will provide safe, reliable transportation services to individuals at the Crocker Residential Care Facility, in the Downtown Skid Row area. The driver supports residents' engagement in medical appointments, social outings, and essential errands while fostering a sense of independence and connection to the community.

About the Program:

Crocker Residential Care is a licensed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) dedicated to supporting adults aged 60 and older who are living with chronic health conditions. Our facility offers a safe, home-like environment with 24/7 non-medical care and supervision. We focus on enhancing quality of life through assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), medication reminders, and opportunities for social connection and independence.

Principal Responsibilities: Safely operate agency vehicles to transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and other approved destinations. Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, ensuring the use of seat belts and mobility aids when needed. Follow established transportation schedules and communicate with staff about route changes or delays. Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and service reports. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Provide respectful, patient, and compassionate service to residents at all times. Collaborate with care staff to ensure transportation needs are coordinated with resident care plans. Follow all applicable traffic laws, agency policies, and safety protocols. Refuel, clean, and maintain the vehicle as needed, including arranging weekly vehicle washes. Collaborate with supervisors to plan efficient routes and adjust to road conditions, traffic, or special needs of passengers. Accurately document and report any incidents involving the vehicle, passengers, or any traffic violations in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Requirements:

Valid California Class B Driver's License with passenger endorsement. Clean driving record for the past three years, verified through an MVR report. Proof of adequate insurance for personal vehicle use. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals experiencing homelessness. Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate attitude towards underserved populations. Ability to manage time efficiently and follow set routes and schedules. Attention to detail when completing reports and maintaining vehicle checklists. Los Angeles City Department of Transportation (LADOT) permit preferred. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Additional Requirements: Applicants should be aware that Crocker Residential is a pet-friendly environment. On occasion, employees may be working around friendly pets.
