Job Description:
We are seeking a
Senior Data Migration Specialist
with hands-on expertise in
SAS to Snowflake migration
hosted on
AWS . The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge in either SAS or Snowflake, with working knowledge of the other having deep expertise in both is a strong plus . This is a
high-impact role
where you will lead or contribute significantly to migrating legacy SAS-based data workflows to a modern Snowflake-based architecture within a secure AWS cloud environment. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end migration of data pipelines and workflows from
SAS to Snowflake
hosted on
AWS .
Assess current SAS architecture, jobs, and datasets; identify reusable logic and design migration roadmaps.
Design and implement scalable Snowflake solutions in line with best practices.
Optimize data storage, queries, and performance post-migration.
Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless transition.
Document the migration process, validations, and architecture changes.
Provide guidance or mentorship to junior team members as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years
of hands-on experience in
SAS programming, data processing, or analytics .
3+ years
working with
Snowflake
in production environments.
Proven experience with
migrating SAS to Snowflake , especially within
AWS environments .
Strong knowledge of
AWS services
related to data (S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, IAM, etc.).
Strong SQL skills and data modeling experience.
Familiarity with ETL tools and migration strategies.
Experience with performance tuning and cost optimization in Snowflake.
Nice to Have:
Experience with
Python or PySpark
for data transformation.
Hands-on with
DataOps/CI-CD pipelines
for data projects.
Prior experience in
regulated or federal environments
(if applicable).
Snowflake and/or AWS certifications.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and drive initiatives.
Problem-solver mindset with attention to detail.
