The ASPCA is seeking an individual who is excited to be part of a committed team working to support at-risk felines in the Los Angeles area.

The ASPCA Foster Program provides temporary care for felines ranging from at-risk newborn kittens to adult cats needing extra support finding adoption outlets. You'll be working with a high-performing staff and volunteer team providing care for +/- 1,500 at-risk felines per year.

The Contract Driver will be responsible for securing animals during transport and getting them to their destination safely and in a timely manner. In addition to the crucial task of care and transport of cats, this position is responsible for stocking the vehicles, monitoring the vehicle inventory, maintaining vehicle logs, cleaning vehicles and, on occasion, delivering the vehicle for maintenance.

Temporary Role Details:

This is a temporary, contingent position and the person hired will be employed through a third-party staffing agency. The target hiring range for this temporary role is $21.25 per hour and may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of driving experience, will be comfortable driving a large van, and will have at least two years of personal, volunteer, or professional animal handling experience. Where and When You'll Work:

This contracted position is responsible for driving ASPCA owned vehicles to provide transportation for animals and supplies between designated shelters, foster volunteer homes, veterinary offices, and community locations throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties. The schedule for this role is flexible, including some nights and weekends. What's Expected of You - Position Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Animal Management and Transport Safety

Manage onsite loading and unloading of cats on transport vehicles Ensure animals are secured in their carrier in the vehicle Handle animals in the least restrictive and most stress-free way possible in line with Fear Free principles Examine animals for obvious signs of illness or injury and communicate as described in protocols Provide care and spot cleaning for animals on transport Learn to recognize illness or distress and how to manage minor issues Communicate with ASPCA medical staff, shelter staff and volunteers regarding animals needs Maintain communication with supervisor at all times regarding successful completion of transports or any delays Provide excellent customer service with shelter staff, veterinarian partners, volunteers, and community members at all locations Safely drive a variety of vehicles in varying weather conditions and road types Keep track of high value equipment entrusted to drivers Perform daily inspections to exterior and interior of vehicles Utilize provided PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) Understand OSHA regulations and requirements Willingness to participate in additional driver trainings Administrative Duties

Ensure that the corresponding electronic and hardcopy paperwork is complete and correct Complete all necessary forms for vehicle maintenance & repair and any necessary logs Manage electronic equipment and learn new programs as needed Comfortable working in cloud-based document sharing platforms Stocking, Cleaning, Maintenance

Stock vehicles and storage units with supplies as directed Assist with minor vehicle repairs and maintenance as needed Assist in delivery of supplies to various ASPCA and partner locations Provide thorough, medical-grade disinfection of vehicles, cages, carriers and equipment in a variety of weather conditions Communicate vehicle maintenance needs to supervisor Maintain an organized, clean and disinfected workplace Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications:

Must provide a valid driver's license upon hire and pass a motor vehicle history check demonstrating a safe driving history Demonstrated driving history of 5+ years Excellent customer service skills Strong interest in animal welfare Ability to be part of a dynamic team Basic computer skills Extensive iPhone and iPad skills using Excel, Adobe, all GPS navigation systems, and additional internet-based programs Must be able to lift 40-plus pounds repetitively Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends The ideal candidate will have access to a personal vehicle for occasional use transporting animals Strong animal handling skills are preferred Experience driving large vehicles preferred Language:

High School Diploma or GED (Required) Personal, volunteer or professional experience handling cats (Preferred) Fear Free® Certified within 60 days of hire
