UW Medical Center-Northwest- Endoscopy
has an outstanding opportunity for a
Procedure
Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C)
at our brand new, state of the art, outpatient medical suite at the Outpatient Medical Center.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
4x10 hour shifts
Day Shift
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
A new 13,000-square-foot clinic at the Outpatient Medical Center (OPMC) will be constructed to to provide procedural and clinic space for the expanded care needs of gastroenterology patients at UW Medical Center. The scope of the project includes eight exam rooms, four endoscopy procedure rooms, and 12 prep and recovery spaces. It also includes scope washing and storage, clinical support spaces for both procedures and staff, telehealth capabilities, restrooms, breakroom, and infrastructure upgrades to meet programmatic needs. The project will meet the physical requirements of the Department of Health licensing. Additional deferred maintenance may be addressed when synergy with the project scope aligns.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides support with Endoscopy equipment to provider
Obtain specimens
Follow regulatory guidelines and policies to clean and store endoscopes
Call and educate patients on their upcoming procedure; provide instructions and escalate scheduling concerns
Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
Act as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers
Assist in transporting patients as required
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation boardOR equivalent
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
