Veterinary Assistant

Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital is expanding our specialty services and is looking for a Full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will be in the process of obtaining their veterinary technician license. This role starts at $20/hour. Schedule:

We typically schedule three 12-hour shifts. Shifts can be 7a - 7p; 7p - 7a, and the occasional 10a - 10p or 2p - 2a Overnight/weekend availability is required. Compensation:

$20 - $22 pending skills assessment leveling Overnight shift differential between 11p-7a: Base + $3.50 About the Job:

Animal restraint during procedures Basic animal husbandry for inpatients Record keeping Nail trims and suture/staple removal Qualifications:

Candidates will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in veterinary medicine. Candidates are in the process of obtaining their veterinary technician license. Basic knowledge of animal restraint is required. Candidates must know how to perform proper hygiene between patients and know how to aseptically handle fluid lines while walking dogs. The right candidate will have a strong desire to work in a busy team environment and a commitment to developing long-term working relationships with colleagues, clients and the community. Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills. This caring professional will ensure a positive and friendly environment at all times. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of clients and other employees.
