Senior Manager, Nutrition & Regulatory Compliance

The Senior Manager, Nutrition & Regulatory Compliance oversees all aspects of nutrition and regulatory compliance at FreshDirect, primarily supporting the R&D and Prepared Foods teams with labeling and regulatory requirements. This role also contributes to content development for the website and marketing channels. Key responsibilities include providing
accurate and up-to-date labeling information
to regulatory agencies and customers, offering
technical expertise
to ensure compliance in all aspects of food product development, and serving as a
subject matter expert
on labeling and food regulatory affairs for FreshDirect personnel. Additionally, this role supports
meal and recipe development
to meet the nutritional needs of our customers. What Youll Do Regulatory Compliance & Labeling Ensure regulatory compliance for products, labels, advertising, and promotions. Review and approve labels and packaging artwork for all private brand products for regulatory compliance and technical accuracy. Keep current on labeling regulations, including nutritional labeling, allergens, ingredients, health claims, and country of origin labeling (COOL) requirements. Handle labeling changes resulting from product updates in a timely manner. Maintain historical and chronological files of all final label approvals and specifications. Manage an active auditing program to ensure integrity and compliance of all labeling information on product labels and the FreshDirect website.
Nutrition & Technical Guidance
Develop and maintain nutrition and regulatory technical information in specification databases for both packaging and the FreshDirect website. Partner with R&D to provide nutrition and regulatory guidance during product development and throughout the product life cycle. Provide nutrition and regulatory guidance to project teams across departments to enable accurate decision-making and ensure compliance. Maintain knowledge of USDA and FDA guidelines and stay abreast of nutrition and regulatory developments, identifying opportunities and implications for the business.
Collaboration & Project Management
Partner with Site Merchandising and Marketing teams to develop nutrition-focused content promoting FreshDirect and its assortment. Manage customer inquiries and support nutrition, regulatory, and labeling-related corporate requests. Manage multiple concurrent projects on tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
What Youll Bring Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in Regulatory, Nutrition, R&D, or Quality within a food company. 13 years of experience with nutrition software (Genesis preferred). Proficiency with data processing systems (SAP or comparable software) and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Extensive knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations and policies across all food categories related to regulatory and label compliance.
Skills & Collaboration
Ability to maintain effective, collaborative relationships across multiple departments and secure alignment on organizational objectives. Personable with excellent communication skills, able to interact with employees at all levels. Flexible, creative, and highly detail-oriented, excelling at investigations and drawing conclusions from data.
