POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Program Leader, you will serve as a role model for children and help create a safe, fun environment for their growth. You will work as part of a team, supervising and engaging with children in a drop-in setting, and fostering an environment that is safe and enriching. The Program Leader will also perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
SALARY RANGE:
$19.20 - $21.00/hour ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and implement age-appropriate developmental curriculum with your supervisor. Execute weekly enrichment activities aligned with the plan. Model appropriate discipline strategies. Maintain a consistent work schedule during program hours. Create a clean, engaging, and fun environment during your shift. Enforce safety and risk management standards per YMCA training. Maintain the quality and condition of program items and equipment. Adapt responsively to situations beyond training scenarios. Track children using the program tracking system. Communicate regularly with parents and families about childrens progress. Participate in emergency drills and adhere to YMCA safety protocols. Support YMCAs strategic goals related to Youth Development, Healthy Living, Member Experience, and Social Responsibility. Engage actively with children in the program. Uphold all branch and YMCA policies and procedures. The physical demands include: Ability to observe and respond to critical incidents with visual and auditory acuity. Ability to lead group activities and perform related physical tasks. Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, crouch, climb, push, and pull. Ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS: Commitment to YMCAs mission and core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and building assets in adults and youth. At least one year of experience in organized child care. Early Childhood Education units preferred. CPR and First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
