As the Director Of Data Center Construction you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Include:
Review and understand complex data center construction projects that are being constructed by colocation lease providers. Develop and implement long-term standards and strategies for data center colocation construction projects delivery certainty to align with organizational goals. Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Lead and manage the construction oversight efforts of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones. Analyze projects independently to evaluate the risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation and inform the business of associated potential impacts. Work closely throughout design, construction, and commissioning to fully coordinate and integrate the tenant fit out projects with the teams leading these efforts. Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards. Collaborate with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications. Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards. Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement. Regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality will be required throughout the life of the project on a regular basis. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability. Attend meetings held in various time zones to support live engagement and support of international projects. Required Skills Include:
Heavy knowledge of base building data center construction- civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced environment. Strong skills in developing and implementing long-term strategies and establishing program level requirements. Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements. Expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion. Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals. Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets. Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. Experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with vendors and contractors. Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 years of experience in large scale construction project leadership, with a focus on data center or colocation infrastructure either for a general contractor, colocation provider, or hyperscaler. Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects. Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Must be able to travel as needed.
