Manager, Events & Internal Communications

Under the direction of the Director, Experiential Marketing, the Manager, Events & Internal Communications manages and coordinates the communication and marketing needs of all other casino and tribal departments including Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation (YSMN) to ensure all communications are uniform and properly communicate to team members and others. Serves as the liaison to all departments and YSMN entities to develop and produce accurate and informative message points, as needed. Assists in the planning and execution of all in-house team member events, outside events, annual golf tournaments, and YSMN events as assigned. Ensures that all communication jobs, requests and special assignments are delivered and executed on time in a professional manner in collaboration with Strategic Communications and the Office of the General Manager. The Manager, Events & Internal Communications develops strategic communications plans to include messaging and execution for lines of businesses and shared departments across Yaamava' Resort & Casino (YRC). Utilizes their expertise to allocate company resources to maximize collaboration, efficiency and creativity in the building and maintenance of consistent branding across marketing and public relations channels. Is responsible for developing and managing internal communications strategies, plans, and tactics for event operational functions within the enterprise. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Partners with departments to create and execute communication plans targeting team members at all levels, including executives. Collaborates in the development of internal communications and marketing communications strategy for YRC. Plans and executes team member events and outside YRC events as assigned in a timely and professional manner. Establishes an internal communications strategy in conjunction with the Director of Experiential Marketing by ensuring alignment with broader experiential marketing goals such as enhancing team member engagement and promoting cultural values. Provides key stakeholders with council on strategy in conjunction with the Director of Experiential Marketing. Meets with leaders as needed to determine communications, special events, advertising and marketing needs. Writes and edits planned communications. This includes independently identifying, researching, interviewing for and writing products aligned with enterprise priorities, and working with subject contributors to ensure consistency of voice, style and focus. Assign and delegates communications and special events for event advertising and marketing jobs. Proofreads, edits and checks all communication jobs for accuracy, content and style. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department. Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles. Education, Experience And Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Business Administration, Management or related field is required. Minimum three (3) years of experience in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Journalism or Public Relations or a similar role within a related field required. Minimum three (3) years of communications experience planning, writing, and editing content for corporate intranets, or the internet preferred. Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience required. Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (Ksa) Demonstrated experience in planning, measuring and evaluating communication effectiveness. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word (including the ability to edit and track changes online), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional advanced editing tools. Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas. Superior project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to design and execute internal communications strategies. Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges. Knowledge and understanding of SharePoint is preferred. Must have extensive experience in writing and executing proactive communications plans; project managing multi-dimensional initiatives; an acumen for building and fostering relationships across business functions and a diverse workforce. Must be an excellent writer, editor, strategic and creative thinker, and skilled at managing relationships with executive leadership Licenses, Certifications And Registrations At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license. Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles. Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions Environment Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting. Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences. Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally. Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone. Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone. Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility. Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties. Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
