JOB DESCRIPTION We're developing a purpose-built autonomous robotaxi from the ground up, and the Sustaining Engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term reliability, serviceability, and performance of our fleet as it scales into real-world operations. As a Chassis Sustaining Engineer, you will own corrective actions for major mechanical subsystems, with a focus on suspension, steering, braking, and drivetrain. You will lead the design, release, and validation of solutions for field issues, coordinating across engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers. Your work will directly drive fleet uptime, durability, and service efficiency, ensuring that corrective actions are robust, scalable, and seamlessly implemented across production and in-service vehicles.

Responsibilities

Own sustaining engineering efforts for assigned chassis subsystems, from issue identification through fleet implementation Lead design updates and validation of chassis components Partner with suppliers to implement robust corrective actions and drive improvements in part reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability Author Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Change Actions (CA), and develop and execute validation test plans for subsystem-level changes Lead fleet trials and data analysis to ensure implemented changes deliver long-term durability and performance improvements Provide technical leadership in retrofit campaigns, installation trials, and complex failure triage in the field Mentor and guide junior engineers or technicians on best practices in sustaining engineering and failure analysis Drive continuous improvement based on fleet data, technician feedback, and reliability metrics

Requirements

BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline); MS preferred 6-8 years of demonstrated experience in chassis, powertrain, or mechanical systems engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment Proven ability to deliver subsystem-level corrective actions that improved reliability and serviceability of complex mechanical products (EV or automotive preferred) Deep knowledge of mechanical design principles and a wide range of manufacturing/fabrication processes Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA strongly preferred) Experience with DFMEA, root cause analysis, and product/process validation Strong documentation and communication skills; proven ability to lead cross-functional reviews Ability to work autonomously to manage multiple projects with competing priorities Experience with EV platforms, autonomous vehicles, or advanced mobility systems strongly preferred
