Warehouse / Crate Builder

Key Duties & Responsibilities Custom Crate/Box/Pallet Construction Build crates, boxes, pallets, skids, and custom wood containers to customer specifications. Includes cutting, measuring, and assembling wood and other materials. Mil‑Spec & Export Packaging Compliance Ensure packaging and crating meet military standards (MIL‑STD), government specs, and export regulations (like ISPM‑15 for wood) where applicable. Packing / Fragile Load Handling Prepare items for shipment, including fragile or sensitive items. Use cushioning, blocking/bracing, and protective materials to prevent damage. Container Loading & Flat Rack Loading Load crates or skids into containers or onto flat racks; ensure they are secure and distributed properly for transport Woodwork & Carpentry Tools Use Use hand and power tools: saws, nailers, drills, etc., to cut, join, and finish wood products. Repair/modify crates when needed. Maintenance of Tools & Work Area Keep tools in good condition; maintain a clean, safe working area; follow safety protocols (PPE, lifting safety, etc.). Quality Control & Inspection Ensure crates/packaging are built properly; check for defects; verify dimensions and strength; verify that the final product meets the customer's or regulatory specs. Reading Specifications / Work Orders Read and follow blueprints, sketches, or written instructions or job tickets so that the crates/pallets are built to the right size & strength. Skills & Qualifications Physical strength/ability to lift, carry, push heavy items (wood, crates, etc.) Experience with woodworking/carpentry or packaging/crating work is a plus Comfortable with hand tools & power tools (saws, drills, nail guns) Basic measuring/math skills to measure dimensions, cut accurately Ability to follow safety rules / use protective equipment Possibly forklift operation, depending on the job (moving pallets/crates) Working Conditions warehouse setting : indoors, possibly large open areas, wood dust, noise from saws and tools, etc. May handle heavy materials, awkward shapes, and fragile items. Work may involve standing, bending, and lifting frequently. May require overtime or shifts depending on shipping deadlines.
