Provides on-site support, training, and communication regarding the reprocessing of surgical instruments and trays to contracted facilities in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards and facilities goals and policies. Coordinates and manages day-to-day operations of SPD employees. Duties Oversees and supports daily operations of all activities related to reprocessing of medical supplies and instrumentation, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage, following professional standards and regulations. In collaboration with the IMS SPD manager, schedules new employee orientation, on-the-job training, in-service education, and quality assurance programs. Promotes Lean work environment concepts. Communicates professionally with hospital staff and company employees, both verbally and in writing. Represents IMS positively in all public and professional settings. Practices within the scope of certification and job description. Supports IMS policies and procedures, and those of the facility. Refers decisions beyond personal scope to IMS leadership. Coordinates repair and replacement of broken instrumentation and equipment, assisting with order processes as needed. Adheres to dress code and maintains a neat appearance.

Additional Responsibilities

Arrives on time and prepared for scheduled work. Leads and participates in in-service training and educational sessions. Fosters best practices among staff through open communication and skill development. Follows hospital and IMS chain of command for issue resolution. Maintains professional relationships with facility departments. Responds to calls from OR and other end-users during and after hours as required. Ensures timely delivery of sterilized instruments. Handles hospital property with care and proper procedures. Provides prompt solutions to facility issues. Manages staff schedules and assists with documentation review. Ensures compliance with credentialing requirements.

IND123 #LI-AP1 Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises and coordinates the sterile processing team. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum three years SPD experience, including at least one year in leadership. Strong computer skills, MS Word and Excel; instrument tracking system experience preferred. Active certification in sterile processing (CBSPD or IAHCSMM); must obtain within 12 months if not certified at hire. Valid drivers license and vehicle insurance if travel is required. Knowledge of OR operations and ability to communicate effectively with OR staff. Ability to train staff and manage department productivity within budget. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and handle multiple tasks. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
