Program Coordinator (Contingent II - Grant Funded)

To provide comprehensive support to the Division of Research and Innovation and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) by strengthening the university's research infrastructure, ensuring compliance with federal and institutional regulations, and advancing sponsored research activities. This position is designed to facilitate effective grant administration, fiscal management, and data-driven decision-making that enhance the university's research profile. The role also contributes to the university's mission of achieving R2 research status through efficient management of sponsored programs, development of training resources for faculty and staff, and implementation of compliance and accountability measures that foster growth in externally funded research. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs duties such as financial record keeping, fiscal management for all ORSP funded activities. Answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Assists in the development and execution of new or revised programs, procedures, and practices. Assists in completing federal reporting and budget distribution for activities and programs. Works with the Vice President of Research and Innovation as the data analyst for the division and helps prepare reports as needed. Provides grant management technical assistance training for ORSP PIs Works directly with PIs and program staff to promote communicating internal processes for approval Assists in obtaining and interpreting program guidelines Assists with supervising office personnel Assists director with fiscal audits including forecasting for reporting and planning purposes Recommends alternatives using problem-solving skills to management on actions financial policy and programmatic adjustments on costs and financial issues Assesses proposals and other agreements for compliance with the institution, University System of Maryland and Department of Education regulations Assists with the determination of ORSP award activity complications Acts as a resource for obtaining regulatory information Implements compliance policies and procedures for grant proposals and awards for ORSP Develops monitoring tools for the review of compliance issues Prepares grant documents and communication to present information relevant to grant activities. Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Director or designee Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word for grant and report writing, database management, and analysis. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail; General knowledge of the web and skills in other internet research; Ability to effectively communicate; general knowledge of federal regulations, guidelines, and practices. Minimum Training & Experience: Bachelor's Degree required and at least three years of experience in college or university grant administration, grant writing or a related field; or a combination of training and experience. Candidates must have the ability to work well with individuals from all areas of the academic community (faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, friends, and supporters), the federal government, the state government, foundations, the corporate world, and others as appropriate. Conditions of Employment: This position is funded in whole or in part by external grant funding. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funds. Typical office and professional job conditions. Traversing the campus as needed.
