SALARY RANGE:
$100,000 - $140,000 per year
In determining compensation, various factors will be considered, including but not limited to, educational background; relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, market factors; and geographic location.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
We're looking for an experienced Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's Habitability Improvement Program. In this role, you'll apply your technical expertise to oversee and review designs for shipboard habitability, ensuring that ventilation, piping, arrangement (outfitting), and electrical systems meet all requirements. You will coordinate and guide the work of designers, CAD operators, engineering technicians and junior engineers to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions to the Navy, while also maintaining cognizance of material system databases and our technical library.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform detailed design work for shipboard habitability improvements across arrangement, ventilation, piping, and electrical systems. Oversee development of engineering drawings for shipboard habitability across arrangement, ventilation, piping, and electrical systems. Conduct engineering analysis, including FEA and hand calculations, to evaluate designs and support technical decision-making. Maintain cognizance of material databases and technical library resources. Submit drawing packages and serve as liaison to Planning Yards. Coordinate and guide the work of designers, CAD operators, and engineering technicians to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions. Research and interpret technical correspondence, NAVSEA specifications, military standards, and equipment manuals to support design and installation solutions. Prepare technical documentation including specifications, procedures, and reports. Act as a technical liaison with Navy activities, ship's force, shipyards, and manufacturers to resolve design and integration issues. Troubleshoot shipboard installation challenges and develop engineering recommendations for corrective action or improved design practices. Apply and refine ISO 9001 quality processes throughout the design and review cycle. Conduct or participate in multi-disciplinary design reviews, ensuring integration of habitability improvements with ship structure and systems. Provide engineering support during shipboard installations. Conduct detailed shipchecks to support habitability and other HM&E overhauls. Utilize technical libraries and ship drawing indexes to identify, locate and interpret as-built drawings. QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Naval Architecture, or related discipline). 5-10 years of engineering experience, preferably in shipboard systems, naval architecture, or marine engineering. Familiarity with NAVSEA specifications, military standards, and shipboard design criteria. Experience with specification writing, technical reports, and procurement/QA engineering. Ability to lead or collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across ventilation, piping, outfitting, and electrical systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical correspondence and reporting. Willingness to travel (5-10%) to shipyards and vessels as required. Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior engineers. Prior experience with ISO 9001 quality management processes. WHAT WE OFFER:
