Summary This position is responsible for implementing corporate, field, and office ESH policies and procedures in assigned business units and/or project sites. Duties Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers. Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work. Assists in establishing a safety culture with Layton and Subcontractor employees on the assigned project. Manages safety programs on all assigned projects, including Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) or other complex risk management projects. Provides regulatory and policy review, interpretation, and technical advice. Recommends improvements and reviews ESH tools, processes, policies, and training. Reviews leading indicators from audits, observations, and injury statistics to propose programs that lower risks. Shares data with safety leadership to develop trends. Assists safety leadership with monitoring new legislation affecting safety policies and procedures. Monitors workers' compensation issues on assigned projects. Conducts incident review meetings with project teams to debrief and train on accident prevention. Oversees monthly audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness of safety programs. Implements training programs like Safety 360 and ensures subcontractor OSHA/MSHA compliance. Participates in pre-construction safety planning for assigned projects. Ensures prompt and accurate accident reporting and implements prevention measures. Assists with injury management to provide medical care with cost considerations. Develops, implements, and oversees safety programs on assigned projects. Supervises safe behavior of all craft workers and employees on site. Interacts with leaders, personnel, and subcontractors to manage ESH issues efficiently. Interfaces with government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and MSHA. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety & Health or related field, or equivalent experience. Excellent knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations applicable to project sites. Minimum 5+ years of ESH experience. CHST accreditation preferred. ASP and CSP certifications preferred. ICRA accreditation preferred. Previous CCIP experience preferred. Basic Spanish communication skills preferred. Understanding of industrial hygiene principles and practices. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and technology tools. Problem-solving, organizational skills, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset. Good interpersonal skills, team development, delegation, and coaching abilities.
