Banfield
As a Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital, you will support the veterinary team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to pets. This role includes assisting veterinarians and credentialed technicians during exams and procedures, ensuring pets and clients feel safe and supported, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Support Assist veterinarians and technicians in handling, restraining, and caring for pets during exams, treatments, and procedures. Monitor pets before, during, and after surgery or treatment as directed. Provide comfort and compassionate care to hospitalized pets.
Client Communication Greet and educate clients on proper pet care, preventive health, and post-treatment instructions. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, building trust and supporting positive hospital experiences.
Hospital Operations Maintain a clean, safe, and stocked hospital environment, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels. Assist with laboratory tests, radiology, and medication preparation under veterinary supervision. Safely handle and clean surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Team Collaboration Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and client service coordinators to ensure seamless patient care. Support hospital flow by assisting where needed, including front desk duties, treatment areas, and patient care.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant training or experience preferred. Passion for animals and commitment to providing exceptional pet care. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to safely handle and restrain pets of all sizes and temperaments. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, medical environment. Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted, and up to 75 pounds assisted. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Exposure to animals, cleaning agents, and potential allergens. Why Banfield?
