Compounding Lab Manager

Reporting to the Head Compounding Pharmacist, the Compounding Lab Manager will be responsible for daily operations within the compounding labs in the pharmacy. You will support the scale-up of growing compounding capabilities, as well as acting as a stakeholder in the development of new compounded treatments. You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations. Available schedule: Wed-Sat 6:30am-5pm You will: Directly manage all activities within the compounding labs, from setup through production and to cleaning of equipment and labs. Direct supervision of the compounding technicians and lab assistants. Support technicians in the production of compounds across all labs, helping to troubleshoot issues as they arise and maintain quality standards of each run. Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure precautions are taken in all compounding activities within the lab, including when working with hazardous chemicals in accordance with USP 800 and applicable laws. Ensure critical workflows and checks are completed each day for all compounds produced. Staff the non-sterile laboratories as needed with the highest level of competency. Plans, organizes and directs the development of compounding initiatives. Create project plans for rollout and execution of new compounding initiatives. Coordinate with the pharmacy technician manager for personnel development and labor planning efforts. Develop training materials and other knowledge assessment verifications. Maintain study protocols and data relevant to compounded non-sterile products. Review/Revise/Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Understand Pharmacy Standards of Practice. You have: Pharmacy Technician Certification in AZ required. Must be familiar with USP chapters 795 and 800. Experience working in a compounding pharmacy required. Familiarity with Computer Rx pharmacy software. Familiarity with pharmacy and in particular compounding SOPs. Possess the ability to teach and train the pharmacy staff. Fluent in pharmacy operating systems. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively with staff and management. Inventory management, independently lead projects, software training, and support. Effective time management skills and a sense of urgency. Ability to multitask in a stressful environment. Good problem-solving abilities, ability to focus in a busy environment, and high attention to detail. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Conditions of employment: This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required. This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR). Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
