ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

POSITION OBJECTIVE : The Assistant Athletic Director will assist in overseeing the planning, development, and execution of athletic programs, ensuring they align with the mission and values of the school. This individual will work collaboratively with coaches, students, parents, faculty, and staff to first promote a positive, Christ-centered environment in athletics, while fostering a culture of excellence.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS : The employee must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Exercise Science, Education, or related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletic administration, coaching or other related field..

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Strong understanding of athlete development, coach mentoring and spiritual growth and development through athletics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate coaches and student-athletes. Strong understanding of IHSAA rules and regulations or equivalent governing bodies. Invested in implementing an effective discipleship program for coaches to incorporate into their program. Organizational skills with a focus on program management and evaluation. Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively, and manage crises when they arise. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

Discipleship and Spiritual Development :

Work with coaches to develop and implement discipleship and faith-based programs tailored to the needs of student-athletes for coaches to incorporate into their program. Evaluate and hold coaches accountable to intentionality in discipleship efforts within their program. Coach Development and Program Organization

Recruit, train, and supervise coaches and program staff for assigned High School Athletic programs. Manage all aspects of the programs assigned (scheduling, compliance, organization, structure, etc) Provide ongoing support and professional development to coaches in order to ensure high-quality coaching and instruction. Evaluate coach performance and address any issues related to coaching and program delivery. Provide regular feedback and evaluations to the Athletic Director on each program. Educate coaches on the importance of our strength training program to enhance athletic performance, injury prevention, and overall physical conditioning. Partner coaches with the strength and conditioning coach to design training regimens and monitor progress. Develop, plan, and execute athletic events, including games, tournaments, and special events. Coordinate logistics such as scheduling, venue setup, equipment needs, and staffing requirements. Facility Oversigh t:

Manage the maintenance, scheduling, and use of athletic facilities to ensure they are in optimal condition. Work with facility management and maintenance teams to address any issues related to safety, cleanliness, and functionality. Coordinate facility upgrades and improvements as needed. Ensure that all events and facilities meet safety and regulatory standards. Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to event management and facility operations. Address any issues or emergencies that arise during events or within facilities. Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding program updates and operational needs. Work with coaches to organize parent meetings, informational sessions, and community outreach initiatives to promote engagement and support. Foster positive relationships with community organizations and local sports associations. Program Evaluation and Improvement :

Monitor and assess the effectiveness of assigned sports programs, including athlete development, participation rates, and overall satisfaction. Collect feedback from athletes, parents, and staff to identify areas for improvement. Report to Athletic Director recommended changes and enhancements based on evaluation results and feedback. Administrative Duties :

Maintain accurate records related to program registration, attendance, and athlete performance. Prepare reports and documentation for the Athletic Director and stakeholders as needed. Ensure that all administrative tasks related to program management are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to traverse campus and sports fields and facilities. Must be able to use a computer and other audio-visual equipment. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Must be able to communicate with others. Specific vision abilities required in this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to hear low-volume sounds. Must be able to assist children for health and safety reasons

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Indoors, outdoors, changes in temperature/humidity; potential for excessive noise, Exposure to the elements is to be expected while assisting with outdoor field and court preparation and oversight of Athletic events and management responsibilities. The role involves both office work and on-site presence at athletic events, training sessions, and program activities.

WORK SCHEDULE : Mon-Fri, including evenings and some weekends. Schedule/hours will vary depending on events and the needs of the department. Some travel is to be expected.
