Service Center Custodian/Special Events Facilitator

Supervised by/Reports to: CNP Supervisor Supervises: N/A FLSA Status: Non-exempt Job Goal: To provide care, maintenance, sanitation, cleanliness, and safety for the physical plant at the Service Center and facilitate the production of special events held at the Service Center and throughout the school system. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Valid driver's license. Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment necessary for performance of job responsibilities. Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills. Ability to follow Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning furniture, floors, walls, windows, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures. Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities. Ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project completion. Ability to effectively perform simultaneous projects and initiatives while meeting multiple deadlines. High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision. Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively. Ability, agility, and stamina to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting up to 30 pounds. Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Provides services to ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment at the Service Center. Demonstrates a sound working knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning floors, walls, windows, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures. Performs custodial work that ensures an efficient and effective balance between operation and preventative custodial services for the Service Center. Scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors according to established schedules and procedures. Demonstrates skill, safety, and knowledge when operating equipment and using materials to care for floors, furniture, and fixtures. Uses proper safety equipment as appropriate when performing custodial and Child Nutrition duties. Stores, uses, and disposes of chemicals, cleaners, and products efficiently, safely, and in accordance with established procedures and instructions. Ensures that debris is picked up, restrooms are cleaned, floors are swept, mopped, and vacuumed, garbage receptacles are emptied, fixtures and furnishing are dusted, and facilities are made sanitary, safe, and attractive according to established schedules and industry standards. Assists in regular, routine inspection of buildings and grounds for safety hazards, repairs, or service and reports needs or solves issues according to established school system procedures. Maintains and reports inventory of custodial materials and supplies needed, and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase. Coordinate the set-up of the facilities for programs, meetings, etc. as required. Work closely with the Child Nutrition Supervisor in maintaining an inventory of supplies, setting up, ordering, and preparing food for special events held at the Service Center and throughout the school system. Maintains professional dress and hygiene, suitable for food service work (uniform, hair net/hat, closed-toe shoe with non-skid sole, etc.) Observes proper safety precautions in the kitchen and other work areas in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain high standard of sanitation and work safety. Cooperates with other school system staff in maintaining high standards. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as an effective team member. Follows written and verbal instructions and communicates effectively with others (CNP staff, Service Center Staff, other school system employees, vendors, students, parents, and community members). Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner. Participates in and promotes in-service training, conferences, and continuing educational programs for self-improvement and other for other personnel. Engages in professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and effective work habits. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals and priorities. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor. **All new employees will be required to be Serv Safe certified** Terms of Employment: 240-day position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Enterprise City Schools Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
