Volunteer Opportunity: Reading Coaches Needed (55+)

Literations Incorporated is the Boston host to the national Experience Corps movement. Experience Corps seeks to mobilize the growing older adult population (age 55+) to make a difference in the lives of young people. Volunteers are needed to read with and mentor students at elementary schools and after-school programs throughout Dorchester, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, South Boston, the South End, and Framingham. As Reading Coaches, volunteers read one-on-one with children in the second or third grade who are reading below grade level. They meet two to four times per week for 40-minute sessions during the school year. Other volunteer positions are also available.
