$110,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr A respected commercial general contractor in Washington D.C. is seeking a seasoned Senior Estimator with strong expertise in masonry, waterproofing, and restoration. This key role supports the preconstruction team by producing accurate takeoffs, conducting thorough scope reviews, coordinating vendor pricing, and preparing bids. The estimator will work closely with clients, participate in scope meetings, and utilize estimation software to deliver competitive, high-quality proposals. This opportunity is ideal for a self-directed, fast-paced professional who can independently manage the full estimating process from start to finish without the need for close oversight.
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $150,000 / year DOE
Senior Estimator Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bids across multiple trade packages Review architectural drawings, blueprints, addendums, and construction document Communicate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to gather and validate pricing Conduct site visits to evaluate project scope and conditions Participate in internal scope review meetings and pricing strategy sessions Utilize software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel for estimating tasks Organize electronic files, maintain bid tracking, and document historical pricing Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure seamless project handoff
Senior Estimator Requirements
Minimum 7-10 years of estimating experience in commercial construction Strong background in masonry, waterproofing, or structural restoration Proficient with estimating technology (Bluebeam preferred, or comparable systems) Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and accountability High integrity, dependable, and responsive under pressure Must be able to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines Local market knowledge is a plus Must be performance-driven and results-oriented, delivers without excuses
