Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for Life Models. There are multiple positions available throughout the 2023/2024 school year. This is a temporary, non-continuing position. We are seeking an equity-minded person who is committed to supporting our diverse student population and faculty within the District Mission. Under general direction of the Art Department Faculty, the Life Models support the delivery of curricula, providing students with an opportunity to develop their craft in a professional, controlled environment. Through working with Life Models, students increase their perceptual and hand skills, develop a deeper understanding of anatomy and proportion, and connect to histories of artistic production. This is a temporary, hourly position, 2-5 hours per week, $21.00 per hour. Ed Code 88003 authorizes a governing board to hire temporary employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days. Benefits: The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee. Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn three (3) days of sick leave per year. Retirement: This position may be eligible for CalPERS Retirement (contingent upon number of hours worked within the fiscal year). REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The successful candidate will support student and institutional success by executing the following duties: Pose for art studio classes: figure drawing, portrait painting. Be able to provide a full range of traditional life drawing poses, from gestures to sustained poses, as required by the instructor. Demonstrate the flexibility and animation of the human form. Provide traditional gestures and poses, as well as anatomical studies. Model poses include nude, costume, and street clothing. Punctuality and flexibility in meeting scheduling demands. WORKING CONDITIONS
Classroom environment; subject to working flexible hours; working with the public. Physical demands including posing, sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and walking. Clothing attire is based on class type: Portrait or Life. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
