The individual will plan and coordinate the receipt and inventory of materials to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining assigned inventory levels. Additionally, the position is accountable for developing material supply plans that align with production forecasts. This position is part of the Procurement department, the Material Planner 2 located in East Greenbush, NY. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Lead Ecovatis Program Management. Serve as leader for PPV & VAVE projects and Funnel Management (DVM). Act as process lead for NPD support, taking ownership of the MPCE process and driving process improvements. Oversee purchasing and material planning by leveraging MRP and Kanban card triggers based on demand forecasts and standardized templates. Take ownership of material stock-outs, identify root causes, and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence. Utilize purchase order forecasting templates to optimize part set-ups. Reschedule purchase orders as needed (expedite, de-expedite, or cancel) to ensure ERP data accurately reflects anticipated goods receipts and supports production schedules without inflating inventory. Review MRP and resolve late in-transit issues to maintain a reliable material flow. Support cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to meet overall business objectives by negotiating with suppliers and sourcing new vendors. Collaborate closely with engineering to source components for new product launches, ensuring budget adherence, on-time delivery, and vendor compliance with quality specifications. Partner with engineering and suppliers to execute VAVE initiatives. The essential requirements of the job include: Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required, with knowledge of inventory management practices and procedures. A degree in Supply Chain or Engineering is preferred.
Experience: 25 years of experience in purchasing, with strong skills in planning, organization, negotiation, and leadership.
Demonstrated success driving cost reductions, leading supplier negotiations, and meeting inventory targets.
Strong negotiation abilities and solid knowledge of key suppliers.
Ability to manage multiple suppliers, oversee contracts, and build effective relationships internally and externally.
Proven project management skills with the ability to plan, organize, and deliver results on time.
Commitment to process rigor, accountability, and consistent execution.
Proficiency in Excel and standard MS Office applications.
Nice to have: APICS or ISM certification (or other supply chain/procurement certifications).
Nice to have: Experience working with ERP systems.
Nice to have: Familiarity with Kanban or Just-in-Time practices.
Background in supplier management and negotiations.
Travel requirement: less than 10%.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including New Product Development, Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Marketing & Sales, and Suppliers.
