Responsibilities
Originate SBA loans, including sourcing, identifying, and closing on new SBA 7(a) and 504 loans. Generate deposits and fee income. Collaborate with external and internal resources (i.e. referral sources, business partners, prospects) to provide expertise in a consultative manner while maintaining awareness of risk and a client-focused perspective. Perform all duties in compliance with Bank policies and procedures and state and federal laws and regulations. Prospect, market, structure, and originate new SBA 7(a) and 504 loans through active participation in local SBS district events and functions while maintaining COIs. Develop and implement a business plan and marketing strategy to identify areas of opportunity for new business penetration and the creation of a solid contact base and potential referral sources. Maintain a referral network targeting business brokers, consultants, lawyers, accountants, and related professionals that results in lead generation to achieve or exceed goals. Structure, present and guide lending opportunities through the application, underwriting, and closing process to ensure that all SBA requirements are met. Maintain an understanding of bank credit policy and underwriting guidelines while working with the Credit and Note department to practice sound risk management and adhere to regulatory requirements. Develop and manage a robust pipeline of SBA loan opportunities through self-sourced activities, including cold calling, attending SBA events, and cultivating COIs. Use critical thinking and independent judgment to formulate and support credit decisions and defend the Banks positions. Negotiate on behalf of the Bank while balancing risk and shareholder value. Obtain complete financial packages from borrowers and prepare submission packages required for credit analysis. Follow up with borrowers to obtain additional information or clarification to ensure timely loan decisions. Deliver approved loan packages to borrowers to obtain required signatures and facilitate closing and funding. Meet with clients through personal calling efforts, referrals, and other contacts to discuss business needs and recommend how the Bank can meet their needs. Collaborate with Business Banking partners to deliver a seamless, customer-centric experience that aligns with portfolio growth goals. Share knowledge as a subject matter expert and mentor others on the team. Provide information to customers concerning deposit products; collect appropriate data. Answer questions and resolve problems for all services provided by the Bank; conduct regular relationship reviews to ensure financial goals are being met and identify future needs. Organize and maintain key client information using the Banks tracking system. Adhere to Bank policies and comply with all United States Federal and State Regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC laws and their implementing regulations. Support the Banks compliance efforts by completing compliance and other training workshops; ensure direct reports complete training timely. Stay informed on lending/credit trends. Perform duties to ensure proper identification and information gathering for CIP and Customer Due Diligence; report any Suspicious Activity to the BSA Officer or designee if found. Requirements
Bachelors (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of SBA Lending experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Banking experience. 60% travel of the time. Skills and Knowledge
In-depth knowledge of SBA loan programs, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements. Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit underwriting, and risk assessment.
