Our client, a leading organization in the scientific and technology sector, is seeking a
Temporary Benefits Specialist
to provide immediate support to the HR team. This role focuses heavily on
benefits administration, Open Enrollment, and daily HR operations . It begins as an open-ended contract with the potential to convert into a full-time position. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented benefits professional who thrives in a collaborative HR team and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and follow-through are key. Base pay range
$29.00/hr - $32.00/hr Responsibilities Lead and support
Open Enrollment
activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Audit benefits files and manage daily benefits administration across medical, dental, vision, and other plans. Process and reconcile
benefits invoices
across multiple carriers. Administer Flexible Spending Accounts and COBRA using online systems. Assist with employee background checks and maintain confidential medical files. Serve as backup for employee access badges, recognition programs, and HR events. Partner with the HR team to answer employee benefit questions and provide outstanding service.
Required Skills & Experience
35 years of experience
in benefits administration, with hands-on
Open Enrollment
exposure. Strong knowledge of medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefit plans. Experience with
invoice processing
across multiple carriers. Proficiency with HRIS systems (UKG preferred or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel emphasis). Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize. Team-oriented and collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
Soft Skills
Highly organized and detail-focused. Customer-service mindset with the ability to handle sensitive employee questions. Adaptable, collaborative, and proactive problem-solver.

Hours: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM EST On-site position in Columbia, MD
